Hi, my name is Joanie Lindley. I’m the proud owner of Sweat Personal Training Studio and a nationally certified personal trainer.
My goal as a Personal Trainer is to motivate each of my clients to live a healthy lifestyle. I believe that each client deserves a training program that is designed to meet their individual needs, one that encourages adherence, teaches sound nutritional habits and helps each to build confidence and have a positive self-image.
Athletics and fitness have always been a part of my life. I grew up playing Softball, Volleyball and Basketball. In college I became an avid runner and competed in my first triathlon. College was also where I began teaching group fitness. I’ve taught group fitness for the past 24 years and became a personal trainer 13 years ago. In 2006 I moved to San Diego from Boston, where I was the Group Fitness manager for Boston Body and Personal Trainer/Group Fitness Instructor at the Sports Club/LA Boston.
I take my job as a Personal trainer seriously and care deeply about each one of my clients. The workouts and programming I put together are based on years of study with some of the top people in fitness. I specialize in workouts that utilize Boxing and Kickboxing. I also include movements from Yoga, Pilates and various sports. I believe it is my responsibility to continually educate myself about health and the human body and to provide my clients with the very best workouts and programming.

Competition – The importance of having a coach!
My athletic background has greatly influenced who I am and guides how I train my clients. Over the years, I’ve had many great coaches. The most influential being my brother, Coach John Lindley. Coach Lindley has taught me that working as a team is always better than working as an individual, that to be your best you have to give 120% and to reach any goal it takes a lot of hard work and SWEAT!
I’ve never been the fastest or the most skilled competitor but I’ve always had an understanding of my own abilities and intense dedication to training. The coaches that I’ve worked with to prepare for my competitions have made a great impact on my results and I have learned from some of the best.
Below is a list of races I’ve competed in over the last several years:
- 2010 Oriflamme 50K Ultra Marathon (31 mile single track trail race in the Laguna mountians)
- Iron Man Lake Placid 2003 (2.4m Swim, 112m Bike, 26.2m Run)
- Ralphs Half-Iron Man 2003 (1.2m Swim, 56m Bike, 13.1m Run)
- Timberman Half-Iron Man 2002 (1.2m Swim, 56m Bike, 13.1m Run)
- Boston Marathon 1999 and 2001 (26.2m)
- Bayshore Marathon 1996 and 1997 (26.2m)
- 15 Sprint Triathlons
- 20+, 5K and 10K road races
- 5+ Half-Marathons
Opening Sweat Personal Training Studio fulfills a life-long dream of having my own studio.
In memory of my father, Jack and in dedication to my mother, Pat my sisters Cathy and Mary, my brothers John and Paul, my brother in-laws Joe and Larry and my nieces Jessica and Megan, I will work tirelessly to make it a great place of inspiration!
Sincerely, Joan Lindley
